Book 1: Stalked by Seduction and Shadows

Book 2: Taken by Touch and Torment

Genre: Dark Romance/Dark Fantasy/Magic

Back with another fantasy series review! I inhaled this series; it really was so good. I want to just start with a reminder to always read trigger warnings, safety first.

This is a dark romance/fantasy, and it is pretty dark. We’re following Scarlett on her journey through a world of vampires, both good and bad. She goes through a good bit of trauma, but I loved the way the author wrote through her trauma and how she overcame everything she went through. There is some pretty heavy stuff in there, but she writes the healing process beautifully and I wasn’t left with any kind of icky feelings after finishing the books.

Scarlett and Rune’s love is absolute perfection, rivaled by only two other fantasy couples I can think of. I immediately connected with both of the main characters but there were also great side characters that I loved. The author did a great job of providing back story and world building to give us something to connect with.

There were multiple times where I genuinely chuckled out loud, between snarky comments both between characters and internal dialogue.

There isn’t a lot of war type action, even though we are technically in “war time” in the book, it’s more of espionage/spy type action. There are a few skirmishes and Rune handling business throughout, but it is mostly centered around Scarlett and her part in everything.

Overall, if you like vampires and witches and magic and don’t mind a dark romance and some darker themes I would highly recommend this series. I love a good duet, two books to me are a great balance and these were on the longer side, so you are still getting plenty of story.

This series is available on Kindle Unlimited.

Some of my favorite quotes:

“I want to hold her trauma in my palms and study it, find where the tears began so I could help her mend them. I wanted to know her void and how compatible it was with mine.”

“You used to clip your own wings when you flew too high. Now, you can’t help but soar.”

Overall, I would give this series 5/5 stars based on me being willing to recommend it to others and would re-read the series.

Hope you check this series out and enjoy it as much as I did!
