In this book we are following Nora and her brother on a mission to really find out what happened to their father after he died. There is family drama and secrets, mostly based in the present but we do get some flashbacks. I liked the flashbacks, they really added to this kind of heartbreak that you end up feeling but in a beautiful, romantic kind of way.
I was not the hugest fan of the main character, to be honest, for most of the book. She’s really going through it, but the author used a lack of communication as her way of processing and handling things, and it drove me crazy. It didn’t feel realistic that you would not address some of things that she was okay with leaving wide open, especially when it came to her main relationship. I did like her brother though, he had this straightforward, sassy kind of personality that I appreciated next to the main character.
I gave this book a 4/5 based on the plot and twists being worth the read. I liked the author’s way of building up to the end of the book and there were twists I did not see coming. I would recommend giving this book a read if you are looking for a good family drama and mystery book.
Favorite Quote: “So…why did you want to stop here?” “Can’t help it. She’s always where I want to stop.”
SIDE NOTE: This is the first book I’ve read by this author, she also wrote The Last Thing He Told Me back in 2021 that is on my to be read list.
